Billesdon Brook bags Sun Chariot prize
Not for the first time in her Profession, Billesdon Brook Made a bit of a Newmarket upset with victory in Saturdays Kingdom of Bahrain Sun Chariot Stakes.
The Richard Hannon-trained daughter of Champs Elysees stunned many with a 66/1 victory in racings Headquarters, and she failed to triumph in her five racecourse appearances.
On the other hand, the indicators of a return to her very best were there for everybody to see after wins at Chelmsford and Goodwood this summer and, professionally directed by Sean Levey, she swooped late at the final stages to enroll her second Group One success – this time at 16/1.
Falmouth Stakes winner Veracious (10/1) drifted markedly in the gambling beforehand but looked to have left a race-winning movement when delivered to the front by champion jockey-elect Oisin Murphy that a furlong and a half by the end, but she couldnt cope with all the strong-staying winner and had to pay for a length and a half second.
Third went to recent Matron Stakes heroine Iridessa (4/1), whilst front-runner Laurens couldnt claim the fairytale finish for her livelihood and weakened out of the reckoning overdue on.
