BELLATOR NEWCASTLE OPENING BETTING ODDS FOR FEBRUARY 9TH
Bellator Newcastle Occurs Saturday, February 9 in Utilita Arena at Newcastle upon Tyne, United Kingdom.
The offshore sportsbooks lately opened up the full odds for the main card, and here they are.
Bellator Newcastle Odds
Patricky Pitbull -510
Ryan Scope +340
Aaron Chalmers -275
Corey Browning +195
Terry Brazier -530
Chris Bungard +350
Fabian Edwards -380
Lee Chadwick +280
And here are my initial thoughts on the Bellator Newcastle opening lines:
Like most Bellator cards, this one is filled with big favorites. Most of them should win, including Pitbull at the main event against Scope. The large different here is obviously the expertise and degree of competition faced. Pitbull has been among the best lightweights in Bellator for decades (and probably one of the most underrated lightweights in the game ) while Scope is a Bellator newcomer who has not fought anyone of note, save for a split decision win over former UFC fighter Mickel Lebout in his last bout. Scope has in fact been involved in the game as a teenager, however, has never really made it big, while Pitbull is still one of the best lightweights in Bellator. I anticipate Pitbull to receive his hand raised and he will be a favorite parlay piece amongst bettors.
I am not entirely sold on Chalmers and I would not be shocked when Browning pulled off another upset. Chalmers does have four first-round finishes, however, the former reality TV celebrity in England has been receiving simple matchups by the matchmakers. Browning wasn’t supposed to be competitive against Baby Slice in his Bellator debut, but he ended up finishing Kevin Ferguson Jr. by knockout in one of the greatest upsets of 2018 in MMA. I think Browning is probably a bit better than most of us think he is, and I would not be surprised at all if he got the angry here. As far as I’m concerned, this can be a dog-or-pass circumstance.
Brazier is creating his Bellator using a ton of hype as an former BAMMA winner. He’s won his last nine fights and has not tasted defeat as a 2015 knockout loss which was his sole livelihood defeat. Bungard has a nice quantity of experience on the European regional circuit and is a decent gatekeeper type of fighter, but this is obviously Bellator looking to match up Brazier with a guy who he can beat in his promotional introduction. Much like Pitbull, I anticipate Brazier to win this fight handily and expect him to be a popular parlay piece too.
Like Pitbull and Brazier, Edwards seems like he’ll be a popular chalk bit also. The brother of this UFC’s Leon is just 5-0 and he is only 25, meaning he has a bright MMA career before him. Chadwick is a veteran of 40 battles and has fought a lot of England’s top fighters, but he’s been finished nine times, including four knockout losses, and this seems like another fight where the heavy favorite should glow. I would definitely keep your eye out to the Edwards within the distance props, but he is another guy to consider putting into a Bellator chalk parlay.
