Solheim Cup: Friday’s opening foursomes matches unveiled
Bronte Law and Carlota Ciganda will lead Europe out in the opening match of This 16th Solheim Cup at Gleneagles.
Rookie Law will partner the experienced Spaniard in the initial foursomes match at 8:10am, taking one of six debutants at the side of Juli Inkster, on Marina Alex and Team USA’s Morgan Pressel.
Inkster has also paired the Korda sisters the first time siblings will partner each other in Solheim Cup history, with Nelly and Jessica playing from the next match against Jodi Ewart Shadoff and Caroline Masson out.
But, Inkster confessed afterwards she had reservations about pairing the sisters just to allow them to persuade the Team USA skipper .
Match two pits Lexi Thompson along with Brittany Altomare against Georgia Hall and Celine Boutier, with house skipper Catriona Matthew against partnering Hall with English compatriot Charley Hull, picking.
However, Hull will anchor the series of matches alongside Azahara Munoz from Megan Khang along with Annie Park’s rookie pairing.
Inkster affirmed she will feature in the day fourballs, although ally McDonald, a late replacement for the wounded Stacy Lewis, is the American rookie not playing in the morning.
Inkster insisted nobody in her team will perform all five sessions.
